Sabe and Donzetta (Perkins) Hughes were married in 1906. Their house was listed in two African American travel guides. The first was in 1930 in Hackley and Harrison’s Hotel and Apartment Guide for the Colored Traveler. They were also listed in The Green Book starting in 1939. Sabe was a barber for many years at the Hughes and Greer Barber Shop at 117 N. Union St. Sabe and Donzetta had two daughters, Bernice and Ruth. He passed away in 1958 and Donzetta passed away in 1975.
