Bennett Hardy (1921-2006)

Bennett Hardy was born in Kokomo in 1921. He was drafted into the Army, had completed training, and was awaiting overseas duty when he was selected for the Tuskegee Airmen program. He was enrolled in pilot class 45-F and graduated in August 1945 with the rank of Second Lieutenant just as World War II was ending. Hardy remained in the Air Force, serving in Japan, Turkey, Vietnam, and the United States during his time as a pilot. He held the rank of Lieutenant Colonel when he retired in 1970 to New Jersey, where he spent the rest of his life. Hardy passed away in 2006.
